Obituary: Ruth H. Miller, 88, Of Norwalk

A lifelong Norwalk resident, she had two successful careers as a school dental hygienist for the town of New Canaan and as a realtor.

Ruth H. Miller, 88, wife of Sheldon Miller of Norwalk, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, with her loving family by her side. Born June 3, 1935, in Kirchheim unter-Teck, Germany.

Ruth immigrated to the United States at the age of 3. Following a brief residence in New York City, she became a life-long resident of Norwalk. Ruth attended Norwalk High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Bridgeport. She had two successful careers, one as a school dental hygienist for the town of New Canaan, and then as a residential realtor.

Ruth was an avid swimmer in Long Island Sound, and also enjoyed skiing, hiking, reading at the beach, and traveling, but above all else, she cherished any time that she could spend with her family.

Ruth is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, her children Gail Shane, Esquire and her husband Cory of West Hartford, CT, Dr. Alan Miller and his wife Beth of Randolph, New Jersey, and four grandchildren, Casey and Allison Shane and Morgan and Shayna Miller, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Beatrice Polley (and Ben), her brother Irving Hirsch (and Roberta), and brother and sister-in-law Milton and Gertrude Miller.

Ruth was buried at a private graveside service.
