Obituary: William J. Abresky, 91, Of Norwalk

He was a member of the Norwalk Senior Center and enjoyed the outdoors, most notably gardening and operating his personal weather station.

William J. Abresky, 91, of Norwalk left us on October 15, 2023 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late John and Bessie (Backus) Abresky, he was the loving husband of Dolores (Rissolo) Abresky for 64 years. He was predeceased by his brother Jack.

An Army veteran, William had retired from Perkin Elmer as an electronic technician, after many dedicated years participating in notable projects for the U.S. government. He was a member of the Norwalk Senior Center and enjoyed the outdoors, most notably gardening and operating his own personal weather station.

In addition to his loving wife Dolores, he is survived by their daughters Bonnie Santarsiero and her husband Paul of Avon, and Melissa Hirsch of Norwalk, as well as four cherished grandchildren, Nicole and Jarrett Santarsiero and Billie and Will Hirsch.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20 at St. Philip Church, 23 France St. Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. Memorial donations may be made to: the Norwalk Senior Center or St. Philip Church.
