NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk police officer and two police cruisers were struck by a car Wednesday as officers were investigating a separate crash in town, according to police.

Police said on Twitter officers responded to the Norwalk Green near East Avenue around 1 p.m. after a car hit a tree there and the driver fled.

As officers investigated, another car struck two police cruisers, which were moved by the impact, police said. An officer standing in front of a cruiser was also struck.

The officer and driver were taken to Norwalk Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The vehicle and cruisers were damaged as a result of the crash.
