Owner Of Norwalk Martial Arts Studio Accused Of Sex Assault: Cops
The victim told police that she was sexually assaulted while exercising at the Calasanz Martial Arts and Fitness Studio.

NORWALK, CT — The 66-year-old owner of the Calasanz Martial Arts and Fitness Studio in Norwalk was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree sexual assault in connection with an incident at his facility in July, according to Norwalk police.
Jose "Calasanz" Martinez, of Westport Avenue, surrendered to police on Friday after learning that police held an active warrant for his arrest.
The investigation began on July 28 when Norwalk Detectives received complaint from the female victim who told authorities that she was assaulted the day before while exercising at the Westport Avenue studio.

"The victim stated that while doing core strengthening at his studio, Martinez sexually assaulted her and attempted to have intercourse with her," Norwalk police wrote in a statement. "Based upon the investigation an arrest warrant was issued for Jose Martinez."
Police added that the investigation remains ongoing "and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Fitzmaurice at 203-854-3180 or dfitzmaurice@norwalkct.org."

Martinez was held in lieu of bail of $25,000 and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 27.
