Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show @ Oyster Festival Sept, 7,8,9

This show includes competitions between performers of ax-throwing, chopping, cutting trees and logrolling.

Once again, this September, the world famous Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show comes to the Norwalk Oyster Festival. This is great old-fashioned, fun, family entertainment at its best. Lumberjacks have been around for hundreds of years and at one time there were over 500,000 in the United States alone. This show includes competitions between performers of ax-throwing, chopping, cutting trees and logrolling. Expect plenty of laughs from the banter between performers and lots of audience interaction.

Paul Bunyan is a giant lumberjack legend in American folklore that has been the hero of logging camps for decades. His fame revolved around his exploits and tall tales of superhuman labors that spread from camp to camp as one of the great oral traditions of American loggers. Bunyan was assisted by his faithful blue ox that was reputed to have the strength of nine horses. Many of Bunyan's feats were connected to his ox that was said to weigh 5000 pounds. Although the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show doesn't include an ox, it does include an action-packed show performed by Champion Lumberjacks that have performed all over the world.

In this show, the audience will not only be entertained, they will also learn about "timber history" and the life of lumberjacks. A fascinating part of this show is watching the performers show logging skills that were used over 100 years ago and compare them to today's logging practices. A perfect example of this is that loggers of yesteryear would use a crosscut saw to take down a tree, and today, loggers use a chainsaw; it is great fun to watch a competition between these two methods. It is muscle against machine and you will have to catch the show at the Norwalk Oyster Festival to see who wins!
