Police Seize Crack Cocaine, Heroin As Part Of Narcotics Investigation In Norwalk: PD

NORWALK, CT — Officers seized crack cocaine and heroin Monday as part of a narcotics investigation "targeting the sale of illegal controlled substances within the city of Norwalk," according to the Norwalk Police Department.

In a news release, Police Lt. Ramon Tejada said members of the department's special services division, with assistance from the tactical response team, conducted an enforcement operation involving Maurice Pickett, 40, of Norwalk.

According to Tejada, Pickett had four outstanding arrest warrants charging him with possession and sale of controlled substances, as well as one outstanding arrest warrant for violation of probation.

Police also obtained and executed search warrants for Pickett's person and home, according to Tejada.

Officers seized crack cocaine, heroin and cash during the search, Tejada said.

According to Tejada, the narcotics "were packaged in a manner consistent with street-level distribution, and the cash is believed to be proceeds from the sale of illegal narcotics."

Pickett was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, operating a drug factory and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bond was set at $635,000 and he was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, according to Tejada.
