Road To Remain Closed In Norwalk Due To 'Hazmat Situation': UPDATE
Police said the road will remain closed for an extended period of time and drivers are asked to use an alternate route.
NORWALK, CT — Ward Street will remain closed between Harriett Street and Center Avenue for an extended period of time due to a "hazmat situation," police said Wednesday.
Police said around 3 p.m. on Twitter the road was closed due to a fire department investigation in the area. They also noted there was no danger to the public.
A police officer at the scene told Patch they were investigating a "hazmat situation."

The Fairfield County Hazardous Materials Unit and Westport fire officials could also be seen on Ward Street around 4 p.m.
Police noted around 4 p.m. on Twitter that Ward Street will remain closed for an extended period of time due to the investigation.

Drivers are asked to use Main Avenue as an alternate route at this time, police said.
