Sentence Handed Down for Convicted Norwalk Court Firebomber

Stamford resident Joseph Stephenson​ was charged with attempted arson, burglary and tampering with evidence in the 2013 incident.

NORWALK, CT — Joseph Stephenson, the Stamford resident convicted of trying to firebomb the Norwalk Courthouse in 2013, was sentenced to 12 years in prison Friday, reports The Hour.

Stephenson was convicted in October on charges of attempted arson, burglary and attempted tampering with evidence for which he faced a possible maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

Prosecutors sought a 15-year sentence, followed by five years of parole. In addition to the 12 years behind bars, Stephenson will have to serve eight years of parole.
