Silvermine Tavern Buns, Common Council President, Toys for Tots

Rick McQuaid, 's Intervention Aide and Family Resource Before and After School coordinator has added another title to his Common Council duties. In addition to chairing the Recreation, Parks and Culture committee, he was voted in as Common Council President. He succeeds Doug Hempstead, who presided over the  after the Republicans gained a Council majority in November of 2009. McQuaid was elected as an at-large member in 2009, after many years as the District A representative. Common Council members are elected to two year terms.

The  is offering up their famous honey buns by special order. You need to email Honeybunorder@gmail.com, with your order and pick up is available Saturday, Dec. 18 or Friday Dec. 24 only. Cinnamon Rolls with Buttermilk Icing are also available. 

Pick up times are between 10 am and noon on the Dec. 18 and 12 to 3 p.m. on the Dec. 24. All pickups are at the Gatehouse.

Honey Buns are $11.95 the half dozen, Cinnamon Rolls, $9.95 the half dozen. Frank and Martha suggest that you bring your own bag since they are trying to "cut down the number of those pesky plastic bags in use." The Honey Bun containers are recyclable, but those bags are not.

They will also ship buns via USPS Priority mail on Monday at a cost of $13 per box. The boxes can hold up to four half dozens.

Do good, get good, courtesy of the .  You can bring an unwrapped toy or nonperishable item to either the Main branch on Belden Avenue, or the South Norwalk branch on North Washington Street.
