Victims Identified In Fatal Norwalk Car Crash: PD

Norwalk police have identified the two victims who died in a recent fatal car crash.

NORWALK, CT — Norwalk police have identified the two victims who died in a fatal car crash in front of 789 Connecticut Avenue. The incident occurred Monday night at approximately 10:11 p.m., according to police.

Police said Anthony Johnson, 40, of Stamford and Frank Peterson III, 50, of Stamford both died following a head-on collision. The two men were found deceased in one of the two vehicles at the scene of the accident, police said.

Police said another man was found with serious injuries in the other vehicle and was transported to the Norwalk Hospital.

Police said both cars received extensive damage as a result of the collision. The Norwalk Fire Department extricated all three men from their vehicles, and Connecticut Avenue was subsequently closed for several hours while officers investigated the incident.

Police said they believe other motorists may have witnessed the incident and ask anyone with information to please contact them immediately.

The Stamford Advocate reports that Peterson and Johnson were best friends, and Peterson was picking up Johnson from his job at Bertucci’s Italian Restaurant at the time of the incident. Johnson's father also said his son had struggled with drugs but had been working hard in rehab to rebuild his life.

Connecticut Avenue is one of the most heavily trafficked roadways in the city, with approximately 25,700 vehicles traveling along it daily, according to the Norwalk Hour. Eleven crashes were reported at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Scribner Avenue during the first quarter of 2017, according to the Connecticut Crash Data Repository.
