Xerox Foundation Donates Grant to Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum

The grant will allow the Norwalk museum to expand its educational programs.

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum has received a $20,000 grant from The Xerox Foundation that will support the museum’s 2015 educational and cultural programs.

“The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion is a treasured piece of history for this area,” Xerox Foundation President Mark Conlin said in a statement. “The value of a partnership like this is not only the historic preservation of an institution but also the many education programs it delivers to the community. Sharing that bit of history with hundreds of children each year is really special and a critical aspect of our community investments.”

Museum officials said The Xerox Foundation’s $20,000 contribution “comes at a crucial time and will have a great impact on the Museum’s cultural and educational programs and the quality of life of the communities it serves.” The gift will increase access to the National Historic Landmark and allow the museum to expand its education program throughout Fairfield County, offer reduced admissions to students of all ages and expand its community outreach, school tours, educational and cultural programs. It also will support the museum’s Ernest Hemingway/Young Writers’ Competition, lectures, art exhibitions, and community events.

Xerox has been a major corporate supporter of the museum since 2010. We highlight The Xerox Foundation’s grant with great pride as Xerox stands for excellence world-wide and their investment in our museum is a vital endorsement of our mission and programs.”
