NORWICH, CT — One person is dead and another injured following a shooting in Norwich on Wednesday night, WTNH News-8 reported. Police responded to a call reporting a disturbance on Cedar Street at 7:50 p.m.

Police arrived and found a gunshot victim who was conscious. He told police he had been driving when he was shot and crashed his vehicle, WTNH News-8 reported.

He told police another person, who was wounded, was still in the vehicle.

Police found the vehicle in a wooded area nearby, according to WFSB 3-TV. The other victim was in the passenger seat. The victim was transported to the hospital and declared dead.

It's unclear what caused the shooting, but police believe the victims were "targeted," WFSB 3-TV reported.
