Police ID Motorist Killed In One-Vehicle Crash In Norwich

The Saturday morning accident is still under investigation, police said.

NORWICH, CT — A local man was killed Saturday morning in a one-vehicle accident on Taftville-Occum Road, according to police.

Sgt. Richard Cannata said the accident happened around 8:37 a.m. in the vicinity of the River View Lane condominium complex.

Police received multiple 911 calls reporting the accident.

Bystanders who heard the crash rushed to the scene and began CPR on the male driver, who was the sole occupant.

Emergency personnel arrived and rushed the victim to William W. Backus Hospital, but he was pronounced deceased around 9:27 a.m., police said.

On Monday, police identified the operator of the vehicle as Paul Daley, 67, of 303 Mohegan Park Rd., Lot 46, Norwich.

As of Monday morning, the cause and manner of death were still being determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, police said.

The accident remains under investigation.
