Former Bookkeeper Enters Court Plea In Norwich Embezzlement Case

NORWICH, CT — A 60-year-old Montville woman pleaded guilty in court Tuesday to second-degree larceny in connection with the theft of about $70,000 from a Norwich-based real estate firm where she formerly worked as a bookkeeper, writes the Norwich Bulletin.

The plea deal reportedly will spare Marianne Boyd jail time when she is sentenced in November. She is expected to receive a suspended sentence and five years probation.

Boyd told authorities that she stole the money from The Partner Network, LLC in part because she has a gambling addiction and suffers from substance abuse issues.

Whether she will be required to make restitution to the firm has not been decided. She is free on $50,000 bond while she awaits sentencing.
