Stop & Shop Closes Temporarily Due To Burst Sprinkler In Norwich
Fire officials said the store will be close until repairs are made.
NORWICH, CT — A sprinkler line burst at a Stop & Shop in Norwich, temporarily closing the store, according to Yantic Fire Engine Co. 1.
"The store will be closed until the necessary repairs are made and cleanup of the affected areas of the store," fire officials posted on Facebook on Monday.
The grocery store is located at Norwichtown Commons at 70 Town St.

Stop & Shop officials told NBC CT that their team "is working to fix the issue and is closely collaborating with the local authorities to ensure we can safely reopen to serve our community."
Fire officials issued a warning to residents about the possibility of burst pipes due to extreme cold.

"Reminder with this recent cold you may have frozen or cracked pipes that you may not be aware of. This week may be trending in a warm up as temperatures are expected to rise above freezing. Pipes will thaw and if you do have an issue, it will begin to flood your home or business.
"Please monitor your homes or business for potential water issues. Please don't hesitate to call 911 for assistance."
Burst pipes have been reported during the extreme cold, with one incident forcing residents of a Rocky Hill apartment complex to relocate.
