Norwich Co-Workers Celebrate Powerball® Lottery Pool Win of $100,000

Town of Norwich workers look to support local community with lottery winnings.

ROCKY HILL, CT – To these four co-workers, entering the office lottery pool was a no brainer; Michael Pszyk, Robert Sewart, Betsy Barrett, and Franz Redanz split a $100,000 Powerball® prize while celebrating in a “viral” fashion.

The winning Powerball numbers on November 23, 2016 were -- 7 – 32 – 41 – 47 – 61. The Powerball number was 3 and the Power Play® multiplier was 2. The lucky co-workers’ Powerball “Quick Pick” ticket matched four of the five numbers drawn, plus the Powerball number, according to a release.

Because their Powerball ticket was Power Played for an extra $1 at the time of purchase, the $50,000 prize was automatically doubled to $100,000. These co-workers have been playing in the same Lottery pool for quite some time.

Sewart, the pool organizer, normally buys two Powerball tickets but purchased an additional ticket on a whim.

“It was by accident,” Sewart said in a release.

After checking his numbers, Sewart exclaimed, “We got $100,000!” and made sure to track down his winning partners. Redanz and Pszyk were contacted first and thought Sewart was playing a joke.

Barrett was the last hear the great news and repeatedly said, “Oh my gosh, oh my gosh.”

With all parties notified, the lucky winners headed to CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to meet with Lottery officials. The co-workers plan to give a portion of the winnings to support the local community in Norwich.

Checks in hand, the lucky winners participated in the viral “Mannequin Challenge”, an internet trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins.

The winning ticket was sold at Norwich Wine & Spirits located on 273 W Main Street in Norwich. The odds of winning a Match 4 + Powerball prize are 1 in 913,129.
