• Fire Rips Through Orange Home; Dog Dies (patch.com) — A late-night house fire on Mapledale Road in Orange forced a resident to flee, with a working smoke detector credited for saving the homeowner's life, though a dog sadly died. Fire officials are using the incident to urge Orange residents to install and maintain smoke alarms, noting that multiple area departments battled the blaze amid high winds and darkness.
   

• This Connecticut Candy Factory Lets You See The Candy Making Process Without Stepping Onto The Production Floor (takingthekids.com) — Families in Orange can peek behind the scenes at the PEZ Visitor Center, where viewing windows let you watch candy being made right in town. The Orange factory is the company's only North American plant, with thousands of dispensers on display, interactive games, scavenger hunts, and a candy-packed store. It's an easy, kid-friendly outing just off I-95 with plenty of photo ops.
