John Pizzi, age 82, of Orange, passed away on September 22, 2026

John Pizzi, 82, of Orange, beloved husband of Rosemarie Pizzi, passed away on September 22, 2026. Born on July 7, 1944, in the Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Philomena (Fannie) Pizzi.

Born and raised in the Bronx on Arthur Avenue, John treasured the memories and traditions of his childhood. As a young boy, he greatly enjoyed working at the neighborhood supermarket, playing stickball in the street, and practicing the French horn and trombone. In his younger years, he was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in the Bronx. John spent many summers in Milford with his cousins, making cherished memories at the beach and with his family.

John attended Theodore Roosevelt High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the City University of New York. He went on to build a distinguished career as an electrical engineer at United Technologies Corporation’s Norden Systems, where he worked for 49 years until his retirement. It was there that he met Rosemarie, who also worked at Norden. Their meeting marked the beginning of a lifelong love that would remain at the center of John’s life.

John and Rosemarie spent the first two and a half years of their marriage living in the Bronx, allowing John to share the place he loved most with the woman he loved most. They later moved to Orange, Connecticut, where they made their home and built a life together. He never missed an opportunity to be there for his three sons and often traveled to their soccer games, no matter the distance, to cheer for them.

In retirement, John cherished the additional time he could devote to his family. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. With his grandchildren, John was playful and present, always ready to spend time with them and create memories they would carry with them.

Those who knew John will remember his lighthearted nature and wonderful sense of humor. He had a gift for making people laugh no matter the circumstance. He was an enthusiastic New York sports fan, especially of the Yankees. He enjoyed listening to big-band music, Dean Martin, and Perry Como, and was equally happy with a good book, a deck of cards, or simply spending time with the people he loved.

Along with his beloved wife, Rosemarie, John is survived by his children, John Pizzi, Jr., Christopher Pizzi (Heather), and Gregg Pizzi; and his grandchildren, Blake, Cooper, Brigid, and Enzo.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road, Orange (meet directly at church). Interment will follow at Orange Center Cemetery on Orange Center Road in Orange.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to the Arbor Day Foundation’s Memorial and Honor Trees program.
