
Ficre Ghebreyesus, 50, died unexpectedly Wednesday April 4 at his home in Hamden.
He was born in Asmara, Eritrea, a son of the late Gebreyesus Tessema and Zememesh Berhe.
For sixteen years, Ghebreyesus was the co-owner and chef of Caffe Adulis in downtown New Haven. He earned his MFA from the Yale School of Art and was a painter.

Ghebreyesus is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Alexander, and two sons, Solomon, 13, and Simon, 12, as well as his siblings, Tadelech Gebreyesus, Mehret Gebreyesus, Sara Gebreyesus, Gideon Gebreyesus, Sahle Gebreyesus and their families.
A wake was held at the Hawley Lincoln Funeral Home, 493 Whitney Avenue, New Haven on Friday, April 6th.

Funeral will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. at Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Road, Orange.
Burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to the Farnam Neighborhood House, 162 Fillmore Street, New Haven, CT 06513.
