Chase Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested [Update]

The suspect lives in Orange and was held on $100,000 bond.

The Orange Police Department announced the arrest of a 26-year-old Orange man in connection with the robbery at Chase Bank from this morning. 

Police say they found Kenneth Appel, of Wellington Drive, due to the description of the suspect and the getaway vehicle given by bank employees. Police went to Appel's home and recovered some of the stolen money "as well as other evidence.

Appel was charged with second-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny and second-degree threatening. He's being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in State Superior Court in Derby on Feb. 14.

The Police Department is currently investigating a reported bank robbery at the , 262 Boston Post Rd. Orange.

At about 8:52 a.m. this morning the department received a holdup alarm notification and officers responded.

It was reported a white male, wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and Khaki pants, approximately 30 years old purported, but did not display, having a weapon and demanded cash.

He was given an undetermined amount of cash and then fled in a black Neon with a rear spoiler. The vehicle was last seen travelling North on Racebrook Rd.
