Development Of Stew Leonard Property Clears One Major Hurdle
There is still plenty of mystery concerning the development of one of the largest and most visible tracts of land in the state.

ORANGE, CT — The Inland Wetlands Commission approved plans last night allowing for the development of land currently owned by Stew Leonard's. The approval includes construction of a 47,178-square-foot distribution center and a 9,680-square-foot maintenance building, the New Haven Register reports.
The name of the company that plans to move to the Marsh Hill Road site has not been revealed but a source tells Patch that the company is currently located in nearby Milford and is nationally known.
The town Planning and Zoning commission still needs to approve the plans before the project can proceed.

And as everyone already is well aware by now, Stew Leonard Jr. tried for many years to get his dairy store built there but a group of concerned neighbors vehemently opposed the project and filed numerous legal motions and appeals, which stalled the project and led Leonard to abandon the project and focus his expansion elsewhere.
