Drunk Man Drove Car into a Tree in Orange: Cops

Orange police officers say they responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Grassy Hill Road at 10 p.m. on Nov. 17.

Officers found that Marc Schaufler, 49, of Willow Springs in New Milford, was driving his vehicle when he veered off the roadway and struck a tree, police said.

Officers had him perform standardized roadside sobriety tests. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with DUI and numerous motor vehicle violations.

He was released after posting $1,000 bond. He is due to appear in Superior Court, Derby on Nov. 30.
