Barefoot in the Box Ribbon Cutting Marks Opening of The Sandbox

"A space where kids can dream, one bucket at a time."

(Steve M. Cooper)

On Saturday, co-owners Dennis and Ryan Croteau (holding scissors) dipped their toes in the sand with family and friends to mark the official opening of The Sandbox, 696 Amity Road, Bethany. A pizza and popcorn party, along with an ice cream truck, topped off the festivities.

Bethany Selectman Amy Rushlow, Amity Chamber of Commerce CEO Barry Lee Cohen, Bethany Economic Development Commission members Steven Winter (Chairman), and Kyle Wasilewski, who also serves on the Amity Chamber Board of Directors, also took part in the barefoot in the box ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Sandbox originated as a family collaborative effort. Ryan and Dennis engaged their children for ideas on not just toys, but brand concept and design, experiences, and memory creation.

The Croteaus stated, "We created The Sandbox for children to enjoy an immersive, hands-on play experience that excites both their senses and imagination. The Sandbox provides a space where kids can dream, one bucket at a time.”

The "neighborhood's largest indoor sandbox" is also equipped with workstations, charging outlets, and a gourmet coffee station, snacks, and other beverages for kids of all ages to enjoy. For more information on The Sandbox, please visit playinthesandbox.com
