Former Connecticut Governor John Rowland Found Guilty
Rowland was found guilty on all seven counts that he violated campaign finance laws.

Former Connecticut Governor John Rowland was found guilty on all seven counts against him by a federal jury Friday afternoon.
The Hartford Courant reports that the verdict came in shortly after 2:30 p.m. after the jury deliberated part of Thursday and into Friday. Members of Rowland’s family and some jurors sobbed, according to reports.
Rowland was charged with violating federal campaign finance laws after he allegedly consulted for the Lisa Wilson-Foley campaign in her bid for the U.S. House of Representatives 5th District seat. Her husband, Brian Foley testified that he hired Rowland through his nursing home company as a consultant in order to keep Rowland’s involvement in the campaign off the books.

Its the second time Rowland was found guilty of violating federal law.
Federal prosecutor Christopher Mattei argued earlier in the week that Rowland attempted to deprive voters of information about who is helping a candidate and steering an election.Mattei summarized what jurors heard in previous days of the trial. He recounted how Mark Greenberg testified that he turned down Rowland’s offer for consultation advice during his 2010 congressional bid.

Rowland’s lawyer Reid Weingarten argued that the deal was Kosher and that Rowland did indeed provide Foley’s nursing home company with advice, according to the Connecticut Mirror.
