Iconic Retailer Announces Store Closing In Orange

Local officials say they are disappointed in the news.

ORANGE, CT — After 11 years in Orange, iconic retailer L.L. Bean will close its doors for good in early 2019, reports the New Haven Register. A major reason cited for the closure is that the Orange store is so close to the newer New Haven store, a company official told the New Haven Register.

Twenty people work at the Orange store. The New Haven store opened in August on Broadway. L.L. Bean officials say they hope that some of the displaced Orange store employees can find jobs at the New Haven location.

L.L. Bean will keep the rest of the Connecticut stores open including in New Haven, Danbury and South Windsor. The Orange outlet store was in the same shopping complex with Trader Joe's.
