Man Found Asleep at the Wheel Charged with DUI: Orange Police

Police said officers woke the man up.

ORANGE, CT — Police say a Milford man was found asleep at the wheel which led to a DUI charge, police said.

Police said officers located a vehicle sitting stationary in the intersection of Route 1 and Lambert Roads, not responding to the changing traffic light.

Officers approached the vehicle and found the driver, Brian Smith, 51, of Milford, asleep at the wheel, police said. He was woken up and asked to perform standardized roadside sobriety tests, police said. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with DUI.

He was released after posting a $50 bond and given a court date of Jan. 3.
