Obituary: John A. Enright, 91, of Orange

John was a decorated World War ll Veteran of the United States Army serving as a Communications Officer.

John A. Enright, 91, of Orange, beloved husband of Helen Nowell Enright, passed away on January 29, 2016. He was born on August 26, 1924 in Oakland, CA to the late Jeremiah & Carrie Enright.

John was a decorated World War ll Veteran of the United States Army serving as a Communications Officer under the direction of General Douglas MacArthur. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Following his military service John returned to his studies at the University of California, Berkeley. John had a successful career as an Engineer at General Electric and other corporations in Massachusetts and Connecticut. He has numerous patents in his name.

John was actively dedicated and involved in the United States Power Squadron as a commander. In retirement, John spent years of his life boating and travelling with his wife Helen and their friends.

Besides his wife, Helen, John is survived by his children, David (Barbara) Enright, Dana (Sharon) Enright and Brian (Joyce) Enright; niece, Stephanie (Doug) Thoman; grandchildren, Christopher Enright, Jordana (Luis) Byrd, Andrew, Julia and Samuel Enright; great-grandchildren, Myles, Ava, Kingston and Solaie; nephews, Wayne MacDougall, Craig (Kathy) MacDougall and James Enright; niece, Elizabeth Hanning; great nieces and nephews, Lindsay and Marisa Thoman and Joshua, Eric, William and Barbara; and sister-in-law, Zita Enright. He was predeceased by his brother, Francis Enright and his sister-in-law, Barbara (William Douglas) MacDougall.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Orange Congregational Church, 205 Meetinghouse Lane, Orange, CT. Friends and family may call from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT. Interment will follow at Orange Center Cemetery, Orange Center Road, Orange, CT.
