Orange Company Settles Over False Claim Allegations
The company was accused of billing Medicaid for items that weren't supplied or weren't medically necessary.
ORANGE, CT — Orange-based Med Tech LLC and its owner Thomas Macre Sr. entered into an agreement with the federal and state government to pay $467,000 after the company was accused of violating the False Claims Act.
Med Tech sells durable medical equipment and was enrolled as a provider in the Connecticut Medical Assistance Program, which includes state Medicaid. The federal government accused the company of billing for back braces and electric stimulation units that weren't provided or weren't medically necessary between 2011 and part of 2017.
“Medical equipment suppliers must bill Medicaid accurately, and we will continue to work with our federal and state partners to protect the integrity of all federal healthcare programs,” said U.S. Attorney John Durham.
