Orange Man, 36, Accused of Stealing $22,000 from a Family Member: Police

The thefts allegedly occurred in 2015 and 2016, police say.

ORANGE, CT — A 36-year-old Orange man was arrested last week for allegedly stealing checks from a family member, forging them and cashing them for more than $9,000, according to police.

Additionally, Noah Tarifi, of East Slope Drive, also is accused of using a "credit card belonging to the same family member to purchase over $13,000 worth of merchandise, which he then sold for cash."

Tarifi turned himself into police custody on Aug. 12. Police said the thefts occurred between 2015 and 2016.

He was charged with Criminal Impersonation (2 counts), Identity Theft 1st degree (2 counts), Forgery 1st degree, Larceny 2nd degree (2 counts), Credit Card Theft and Illegal Use of a Credit Card.

Tarifi was held in lieu of a $35,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 15. The current status of his case was not immediately known.
