Orange Man Accused of Killing His Mother Placed on Suicide Watch
Timothy Granta, 22, appeared briefly in Superior Court, Milford on Tuesday.

Timothy Granata, 22, appeared briefly in Superior Court, Milford Tuesday morning and was placed on suicide watch and ordered to undergo a psychiatric examination, WFSB 3 and the New Haven Register reported.
Granata allegedly killed his mother, Clauda Granata, 58, at their 130 Wild Road Drive house last month. He allegedly stabbed her to death. Six family members accompanied Granata to court including his father.
His attorney said Timothy Granata, who was a junior at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, has a history of psychiatric issues, and it was unclear whether he needed to be medicated, the New Haven Register reports.

WTNH News 8 reports that at the time of his arrest, Granata told police “ I killed her, I stabbed her.”
Granata’s attorney said his client’s father still is supportive of him though the murder has destroyed the family, the Register reports.

In court, Granata’s bond was reduced from $2 million to $750,000.
After the murder, Granata was found unarmed at the residence and he willingly succumbed to being arrested, The Orange Times Editor Joseph Cole has reported.
