Orange Police: Man Accused of Striking 3-Year-Old Repeatedly
Police say witnesses tried to intervene and stop the man.

Orange police say officers served a warrant on the arrestee, Shaun Williams, 31, of Howard Avenue in New Haven last week.
The warrant stemmed from an incident at the Target store on Jan. 22.
The arrestee was observed allegedly striking a three-year-old child multiple times in the store parking lot, and when witnesses attempted to intervene, the arrestee argued with them, police said.

One of the witnesses obtained the arrestee’s vehicle information and reported the incident to police.
Investigation led to the issuance of the warrant, which led to Williams being charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor.

He was released on a promise to appear in court.
