HomeSnack says it’s combed through 2014 FBI data, studied weather patterns, education records, unemployment rate, income levels, and even short commute times to shape their list.
They do admit that they gave more weight to communities with larger populations believing there is more to do in bigger communities, which improves the overall quality of life.

But where this list seems a little unrealistic is New Canaan is ranked No. 12, but in the you can’t make this up category, Greenwich, which is usually considered one of, if not the the top place to live in Connecticut, is ranked all the way down at No. 148.
Some other head scratchers include: Madison all the way down at No. 30, Darien No. 48, Easton, No. 49, Trumbull, No. 63, Ridgefield, No. 121, Milford, No. 125, Fairfield, No. 133, Westport, No. 135, and Guilford, No. 197.
But here is what HomeSnack says in its ranking of Orange being the best place to live in Connecticut.
Unemployment rate: 5%
Median household income: $106,372
Crime: 29th best in Connecticut
“As is the case with most of our rankings, suburbs of the larger towns rank higher as best places to live based on lower crime rates and higher school ratings. This is the case as well with Orange, a town of 14,000 people just outside of New Haven.
Orange not only came in first as the best place to live based on the criteria, it won by a lot. It finished a full three points higher than runner-up Wallingford. That’s no surprise; lots of employed, wealthy people living in a safe community is a great combination.”
