Woman Punched Consignment Shop Employee in the Face: Orange Police

Police say the woman was upset when store employees wouldn't purchase clothing she was trying to sell.

ORANGE, CT — A woman is accused of assaulting an employee of an Orange-based consignment shop after they refused to buy clothes she was selling, police said.

Officers responded to the Plato’s Closet store on the Boston Post Road in regard to a disturbance last month. Officers learned that the arrestee, Deanna Gordon, 20, of Waterbury, had arrived with some clothing that she wanted to sell to Plato’s Closet on consignment, police said.

When she learned that the store would not take the clothing, she became angry, police said. She knocked over a merchandise display and yelled at the employees, police said. When the employees asked her to leave the store, the arrestee punched one of the employees in the face, police said.

Officers found the arrestee a short distance away, where she was taken into custody and charged with third-degree, second-degree threatening, breach of peace, and second-degree criminal mischief.

She was initially held in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
