American Legion Announces Upcoming Events

A blood drive will be held from 7 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7 at the David S. Miles American Legion Post 174 at 43 Oxford Road, or Route 67.

And on Jan. 15, the American Legion Riders Chapter 174 – a group of motorcycle riders consisting of members of the American Legion, Sons of the Legion and the Legion Auxiliary – will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the .

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will host a safe boating coarse on Jan. 21 and Feb. 18 (two separate classes, participants need to only attend one) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The class covers the state boating and PWC certificate.

People can register by calling the Legion Bar at 203 888-2988 and they need to bring a bag lunch with them. Cost of the class is $50 per person.

A Valentine’s Dance will be held on Feb. 11 from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Legion Hall. Tables of eight can be reserved for $60 or $10 per person, $15.00 per couple by calling the bar 203 888-2988. Music provided by HHR DJ Services. Bring your snacks and a cash bar is available.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will also run a Safe Padde class from 8 a.m. to noon on Feb. 25 for kayak and canoe safety items and legal requirements. The class is free. People can register by calling the bar at 203 888-2988.
