• Oxford Looks To Fix Problems With Aging Radio System (patch.com) — Oxford officials are weighing upgrades to the town's aging emergency radio system after fire leaders reported intermittent communication problems that could affect public safety. Proposed changes include moving radio connections to fiber, updating receiver sites, and linking the Oxford Center Fire Station to the regional dispatch center so problem sites can be monitored and shut down remotely. Funding sources and a completion timeline have not yet been announced.
   

• Griffin Hospital Annual 5K Set For Oct. 24 (newhavenindependent.org) — Oxford residents are invited to join Griffin Hospital's 18th Annual 5K Walk/Run in Derby on Saturday, Oct. 24, supporting cancer care close to home for the Lower Naugatuck Valley. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., with options to walk, run, form fundraising teams, or purchase commemorative signs honoring loved ones while helping expand advanced radiation therapy services.
