A RIGHT TO VOTE!!!

A Right To Vote!!!

It has been over 2 years that Keep Oxford Green brought forward information to the Residents of Oxford that High Density Housing was coming to Oxford, the Rock Quarry being the #1 spot.    A truth that was denied in the 2009 Election by MADR/McKane.

For these past 2 years, the Planning & Zoning Commission have allowed Oxford Residents to voice their opinion in regards to the Incentive Housing Zone and to bring forth what Oxford Residents would like to see as it relates to Affordable Housing.   By far, of all the public workshops that were held,  the majority of Oxford Residents time and time again wanted Single Family Homes.   The results of two separate surveys, done years apart, come back with the same answer; as listed on the 2007 Oxford Plan of Conservation & Development,  the majority want Single Family Homes.

From first hand experience during these past two years, and from as recent as this  past weekend, the Incentive Housing Zone is the #1 concern for Oxford Residents, they do not want an IHZ.    They do not want another state controlled regulation.   They want affordable housing regulations that comply with the State mandate to allow for affordable single family houses to be built.

P&Z is not acting in agreement with the majority of Oxford Residents.  On Wednesday, Oct 5, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall,  Janis Hardy, P&Z member - recently appointed (not elected) by MADR/McKane,  has made a motion “that Planning & Zoning adopts the following resolution endorsing the submission of the Incentive Housing Zone Adoption Application by the Town of Oxford”.

Friends of KOG are circulating a petition to request a referendum that would allow the Oxford Residents a chance to vote.
