This blog is written from Adelaide, Australia, the capital city of South Australia. South Australia lies approximately between the 26th and 38th Parallels of Latitude and the 129th and 141st Meridians of East Longitude. Time: 9 ½ hours ahead of Greenwich Meantime (Oxford time is 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011 – Adelaide time is 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011.)
Adelaide’s best attraction is Cleland Wildlife Park, which gives you the opportunity to experience a unique animal encounter with kangaroos, koalas, emus, wallabies and waterbirds in a natural bushland setting. A once in a lifetime experience for me, I was able to feed and touch a kangaroo. The picture of the young kangaroo sticking its tongue out is for my daughter Sara, it seems that the trend is catching on!
I have to admit, my favorite animal is the koala. Koalas are among Australia’s most recognisable animals, when they aren't sleeping in the fork of a tree (they sleep for 19 hours); Koalas spends their time consuming a little over a pound of eucalyptus leaves a day. They are soft and cuddlely!

My reason for being in Australia is a business trip. Oxford Science, an Oxford Company established in 1990, was invited to showcase its new products by the market leader in Australia, at Australia’s Veterinary Association Annual Conference. This year, the AVA celebrated its 90th Anniversary in the city of Adelaide. Oxford Science’s world headquarters is located at One American Way, 178 Christian Street. It is a full manufacturing facility for medical diagnostics for the animal healthcare. Its founders have over 30 years experience and hold over 20 patents in medical instrumentation. Oxford Science continues to be the leader, through innovation, in cutting edge technology for In-Clinic Veterinary Laboratory Equipment.
After a successful conference, we look forward to a gruelling 21-hour flight home from Sydney, Australia, to NYC. One of the highlights in Sydney is the Opera House, truly a sight to be seen! Thank you to Ian and Annie for their generosity and Hospitality.
