As a freshman at URI, each freshman student is required to take a class called URI 101 that is taught by upper classman students as a way to connect with other students in your major and also help to get yourself adjusted to the college life. As a part of this class we are required to take part in a civic engagement project through the Feinstein Enriching America Program. This program has provided URI freshman with the opportunity to help the Rhode Island community each fall.
For the past 5 years the college of business students in URI 101 have partnered with the Matty Fund as our civic engagement project with the Feinstein Experience. The Matty Fund is a local nonprofit organization started by the parents of Matthew Siravo who died in 2003 when he was 5 years old due to a seizer that lasted 90 minutes long. The parents of Matthew Siravo, one of them being an alumni of URI, turned their tragedy into something good by creating the organization.

In order to help out the organization, the business students in URI 101 are selling t-shirts that support epilepsy awareness. The money received from the t-shirt sales go directly to the Matty Fund to fund epilepsy research and family support for families with children with epilepsy. The fundraiser only runs for a short amount of time and ends on October 16th. Please help support this great cause by helping us reach our goal of 2,000 shirts and help out children that are suffering from epilepsy and continue the legacy of Matty Siravo, its greatly appreciated by everyone. T-shirts can be purchased by the following this link: http://www.teespring.com/mattyfund/119
