Oxford Really Together
Your chance to share your ideas and concerns for the town of Oxford.
As a change of pace, I thought it might be nice to ask your view on town issues. One of the reasons that I sought the office of Oxford First Selectman was the realization that very few politicians in town actually listen to the people. They are so intent on countering the opinion of their rival that they loose themselves in sanctimonious ecstasy while basking in the glow of a point scored on the political battlefront. It is all about them and none about you.
A senior citizen told me that the reason he never got involved in town politics was that he didn't want to be the subject of ridicule. I talked to this gentleman for the better part of an hour and found that he had a lot of sound ideas. If I hadn't taken the time to talk, his ideas would never be discovered.
Other towns laugh at the way that Oxford people govern their affairs. I was told that at a Christmas party in Southbury. Our politicians would rather argue with each other than come together and capture the best that each one has to offer. We are more concerned with the messenger than the message.

Anyone who has commented for this forum is familiar with the rancor that freely flows from those who do not even sign their name. I keep thinking of my senior friend and his reluctance to discuss his ideas. If you want to share a good idea or discuss an issue that is on your mind, go ahead. This is the consideration zone. Bad fortune will befall anyone who violates its sanctity.
