Region 15 Schools is excited to invite the community to STEM-A-Palooza, a FREE day of hands-on exploration, activities and demonstrations designed for curious minds of all ages. The event is open to everyone - you do not need to be a Region 15 family to attend.
From robotics, engineering and aviation to energy, animals, environmental science, health sciences and more, STEM-A-Palooza will bring science, technology, engineering and math to life at Pomperaug High School.
Visitors can explore at their own pace, try something new, ask questions and discover STEM in action.

Oxford Blooms Flower Farm

Join the Oxford Cultural Arts Commission for a special four-part plein air painting series at Oxford Blooms, where artists will gather throughout the summer to capture the changing landscape of this beautiful garden space. By returning to the same location over the course of the season, participants will have the opportunity to document how light, color, and plant life evolve from early summer into late season bloom.Artists are encouraged to bring their own supplies and work in any medium—painting, drawing, watercolor, pastel, or sketching. Whether you’re a seasoned plein air painter or simply curious about trying something new, artists of all levels are warmly welcome.Each session will run 5:30 PM until sunset, allowing participants to enjoy the golden evening light while creating alongside fellow artists in a relaxed, supportive environment.Bring your materials, find a view that inspires you, and watch the summer unfold one painting at a time.

Jay Heritage Center

The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is proud to welcome educators to our site during September 2026, Constitution Month, to commemorate our nation’s journey towards independence and democracy. The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity. The panel will discuss what the United States and the Constitution have meant to citizens over time and how that vision has changed or stayed constant. &nbsp;The event is FREE but registration is required. Cyrenius H Booth Library

The Garden Club of Newtown invites local residents and club members to a presentation of the program Color Your Garden-Flowering Bulbs for Every Season. The program will be held on Tuesday, September 22, at the C.H. Booth Library. The presenter, Christine Darnell, is the owner of Boutique Landscape &amp; Garden Design of Lyme, Connecticut. 
Using her artist’s eye towards color and texture, Christine designs plant combinations from the beginning of the design process to the completion of the landscape plan.She will show a gallery of her work to illustrate her approach to garden design.
The program, in the Olga Knoenpke room of the library at 25 Main Street in Newtown will start at 1:00 p.m. and there is no charge for admission. All are welcome.
