Cultural Arts Commission Has New Artist on Display for October

The OCAC has a new artist on display every month at Town Hall.

Press Release

Guilford Artist Steven Plaziak has been scheduled for months as the October exhibitor for the Oxford Cultural Arts Commission Gallery of Art show, and the OCAC is delighted that he was also the second place award winner in our September Gallery of Art Showcase juried exhibit. Steven has agreed to show the winning painting Wall-Bahamas in this new show.

“Painting for me is a form of mental therapy," Plaziak said. "Being an active parent and full-time graphic designer, time spent painting provides many exciting challenges, whether it is experimenting with different mediums (oils, pastels, watercolors), improving or learning new techniques, or creating images that I personally find beautiful. I have always been interested in old barns, boats, harbors, roads, and the beauty that nature provides when adding dramatic atmosphere and light. I find light most dramatic in the early mornings and late afternoons, and often carry a sketchbook to understand and record these fleeting moments. A good sketch, value study, and an interesting perspective are key ingredients for a successful composition.”
