Art Showcase This Weekend in Oxford

Event will begin on Friday.

The Oxford Cultural Arts Commission will hold its annual Gallery of Art Showcase this weekend, Friday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Oxford Town Hall meeting room. This year will be a juried show open to all visual media. The event includes a “Meet the Artist” opening reception on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and an art showcase for viewing from Sept. 24-25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The OCAC put out a call for artists in June and a three-judge panel reviewed submissions for exhibit; the organization will award over $1,000 in cash and prizes. At this juried art showcase, the art works chosen will be exhibited on kiosks and the gallery walls for the weekend.

Demonstrations by artists and musical programs will be part of the weekend event, including a rescheduled summer concert band: Paula Gallo and Friends will play at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Oxford Center School Gazebo. The event is free and open to the public.
