Grassroots Oxford Group Holds Second Community ARPA Forum
'All In For Oxford' Invites Residents to Share Priorities on the Use of Oxford's $3.9 million American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds

OXFORD - The second community-led forum to discuss expenditure of Oxford’s $3.9 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds will take place Thursday, January 20, 7 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 25 Great Hill Road. To accommodate all who wish to participate, the forum will be both in-person (masks required, per church policy) and via Zoom (Meeting ID: 860 1668 4644 / Passcode: 831546). The forum will again be hosted by All In For Oxford, a growing alliance of neighbors and community organizations formed in 2021 to make it possible for all its citizens to have a safe and dependable place to live, a place where food is secure, and a place in the decisions that affect their lives.
The first ARPA forum at the end of September drew a large, enthusiastic group of Oxford residents representing diverse ages and interests, including many who would not normally agree with each other. Yet after 90 minutes of spirited discussion, where lots of ideas were raised, the group reached a clear consensus. “We heard loud and clear the need for a community space for townspeople to gather, play and grow,” said Marcia Franko, one of the event’s organizers.
First Selectman George Temple, in attendance at the September forum, expressed enthusiasm for this idea. He committed to host a town-wide meeting to discuss it further, and All In for Oxford leaders say they are still waiting for more details. Selectmen and other public officials will again be invited to be part of Thursday evening’s discussion.

Forum organizers caution that this “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity may pass the town by if Oxford residents don’t make their voices and priorities known. They stress that everyone is welcome to attend and encouraged to take part in the forum. Those with questions may contact Lynn Aiksnoras, 203-592-1774, romans8_28@sbcglobal.net.
