Harry Potter Movie Night Back On

The event will be held at Jackson Cove Park.

Editor's Note: This news release is from the Oxford Parks and Recreation department:

Oxford Parks and Recreation is proud to present a family night for our residents to take place at Jackson Cove Beach on Sunday, Sept. 4. The original Harry Potter night was originally postponed because the film company would not allow the Harry Pottter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 movie to be shown around the same time that the sequel was released in theaters.

Starting at 7 p.m., Magician and EmCee Chris Hurlbert will test your knowledge of all things Potterish! This game show format will be fun for the whole family. You have to be quick with the buzzer and really know your Harry Potter trivia.

Instead of points to keep score, players collect props to win. Cool items from the story are used to keep track of the score. Players collect Wizard’s Hats, Wizard’s glasses, Magic Wands, Magic Beans and many more interesting props from the story. Prizes will be awarded for top place finishers! After the games, we’ll kick back and watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 – the next to last movie of the series on a large outdoor screen.

Part 2 was just recently released in the theaters. Even if you’ve seen Part 1 before, come see it again to refresh your memory before seeing Part 2. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs or your sleeping blankets. Light snacks will be available for sale. No permits will be needed to enter the park after 6 p.m. but due to limited parking space, this free event is for Oxford residents only, and will take place rain or shine.
