Oxford BOS Agenda Includes Possibly Disbanding Fire Commission

The Oxford Fire Commission could be disbanded tonight.
According to the agenda for the Board of Selectmen’s Feb. 4 meeting, the board will discuss and possibly take action on disbanding the fire commission.
The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

According to the Republican-American, a discussion on the commission’s future and an ordinance it has proposed prompted the move. The discussion was held between the selectmen, the Board of Fire Chiefs and the Fire Commission.
There have been disagreements around the language used to describe the commission’s duties.

Other items on the agenda include disbanding the Oxford Arts and Crafts Committee and setting a town meeting date for the Quaker Farms School Roof Replacement Project Appropriation and Bond Authorization.
