Oxford Cultural Arts Commission Plans Trip
Take a trip to see Fantastic Planet conducted by the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra.
Take a journey from the depths of the ocean to the farthest reaches of space. Experience the sights and sounds of the world's greatest music, with the backdrop of brilliant video footage depicting the soul of the earth and beyond. Join the on a trip to the Waterbury Symphony, led by conductor Emil de Cou, for the performance of "Fantastic Planet" on April 2, 2011 at 8 p.m.
Fantastic Planet was produced in collaboration with NASA and combines a fast-paced mix of music with stunning video footage of the earth and beyond projected on a large screen above the orchestra -- a feast for the eyes as well as the ears. Conductor de Cou, guest conductor for the performance, serves as musical consultant to NASA. To prepare visitors for the symphony, Mr. de Cou will present a classroom workshop and question and answer session on the upcoming performance in Oxford on Tuesday March 29, 2011, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at
Tickets for Center Orchestra seating at performance at Naugatuck Valley Community College (including the Tuesday night workshop) are $55.
