Oxford HS Standardized Test Scores Up Slightly Over Last Year
CAPT scores show a slight jump in just about every category.

students performed better on the Connecticut Academic Performance Test than last year's crop of students who took the standardized test, according to results released Tuesday by the state Department of Education.
The test, which is used to determine which school districts achieve adequate yearly progress under the No Child Left Behind law,is taken annually by sophomores and judges students on whether they are learning to expected levels in math, science, reading and writing. No Child Left Behind uses a base level of learning that it calls proficient and wants a majority of students to attain that level. It also uses a standard called goal, a higher achievement level, that it hopes a large percentage of students will reach.
Oxford High School had a slightly higher percentage of students meet the goal and proficient standards than it did last year in all but a few categories. The percentage of students who met the proficient and goal standards in reading went down slightly from last year and the number who hit the goal standard in writing went down slightly as well.

Also, it will probably be at least another month before the school system finds out whether it has achieved adequate yearly progress, or AYP, under No Child Left Behind. But it appears at least the CAPT scores are good enough to make AYP; CMT scores are also factored into the AYP equation.
The following is a look at this year's scores and last year's scores and how they compared to the state scores in each year. They come from this website.
