Malloy said the power plant will be good for jobs and help with the state's energy needs, the Rep-Am reports.

Officials also touted the environmentally sensitive nature of the plant. Oxford will receive $117 million from CPV over the next 22 years as part of a tax deal. Several neighbors fought the plant strenuously but they say that CPV has been attempting to be a good neighbor though they still have concerns, the Rep-Am reports.
