Oxford Sets School District Goals
The superintendent and Board of Education have defined what they will focus on over the next two years.

The Oxford Board of Education recently adopted the following Superintendent and District Goals that will run through 2014. They are as follows:
I. Begin the process of realigning the district curriculum consistent with the Common Core State Standards.
a. In collaboration with the Administrative Leadership Team, develop strategies for introducing and implementing all of the components of the curriculum necessary to incorporate the Common Core State Standards across all content areas.

II. Develop internal structures designed to create vertical articulation and alignments of the curriculum and begin implementation of that process.
a. In collaboration with the Administrative Leadership Team, develop formal vertical curriculum articulation teams that will address the curriculum in grades K-12.

i. Mathematics will be the focus content area for 2012-13 and serve as the pilot to help further develop best practices with regard to process and implementation issues.
III. Develop a new Teacher and Administrative Evaluation Plan consistent with the guidelines adopted by the State Board of Ed.
a. Develop a district-wide Teacher/Administrative Evaluation Work Group
b. Engage Work Group participants in Professional Development sessions regarding the State model evaluation plan.
c. In collaboration with the Work Group members, develop an evaluation plan for teachers and administrators consistent with guidelines adopted by the State Board of Ed.
IV. Review, revise and improve the school district Emergency Operations and Management Plan consistent with nationally recommended best practices.
a. Review specifics of the current management and response plan on a school-by-school basis and make specific initial adjustments as appropriate.
b. Review all school visitor identification and access procedures, adjust and monitor for implementation.
c. Review current prevention and mitigation systems and implement changes/improvements as appropriate.
d. Establish a working relationship with community partners, e.g. Town officials, law enforcement, first responders and develop a schedule for ongoing collaboration.
V. Provide Executive Leadership and Organizational Accountability
a. Set high expectations for student and staff performance; hold all members of the organization accountable for the performance of students and engage in making the difficult decisions necessary to move the organization forward toward the goal of academic excellence for all students.
b. Establish a clearly articulated vision, mission and direction for the district.
c. Promote a climate of collaborative leadership that includes the cultivation and development of teacher leaders.
d. Facilitate the development and implementation of effect policies by working with the Board of Education Policy and Quality Committee and the Board of Education to revise the Policy Manual.
e. Facilitate communication between all stakeholders within the community with an emphasis on building positive and collaborative relationships.
f. Work in collaboration with the Oxford High School administration and staff to complete the New England Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation process.
VI. Develop and present to the Board of Education a budget for the school district that is aligned with district and school goals and is designed to foster the continuous improvement of the educational programs offered to the students.
a. In conjunction with the Director of Finance and the Administrative Leadership Team, create a spending and staffing plan that reflects the ongoing and future needs of the district.
b. Working with the Board of Education’s Finance Committee, refine the proposed budget using input from the Board of Education meetings and budget workshops.
