Oxford Woman Wins $50K in Recent Powerball Drawing: Correction
The Oxford resident won $50,000 in a recent Powerball draw.

It’s not $1.59 billion but it’s not pocket cash either!
The Connecticut Lottery says on its website that Noreen Parsons, of Oxford, won $50,000 playing Powerball recently.
Parsons purchased her lucky ticket at the Main Street Convenience store in Southbury. It’s unclear which drawing the ticket was for as she redeemed the ticket on Jan. 13, according to the Lottery website.

No one from Connecticut was among the three confirmed winners of the record $1.59 billion Powerball jackpot Wednesday night, but more than a dozen people who purchased tickets in the Nutmeg State are considerably wealthier today.
Three Connecticut-bought tickets matched the first five numbers (8-27-34-4-19) but not the Powerball number (10). Each of those winners will receive $1 million prizes. Those tickets were sold in Hartford County, New London County and Fairfield County, according to Valerie Guglielmo of the Connecticut Lottery.

Eleven tickets bought in the state matched four numbers plus the Powerball number, earning the holders $50,000 apiece. Four of those winners also had the Power Play number 2, doubling their prizes to $100,000.

CORRECTION: This story has been updated. Originally, the story stated that Parsons won the $50,000 during the historic Jan. 13 Powerball drawing, but in reality that is the date she claimed the money, and it could have been from a recent drawing prior to Jan. 13.
